Deepika Padukone is back with a dance number almost five years after she was seen in her period drama Padmaavat performing Ghoomar. She has now reunited with Ranveer Singh for a special dance song in his film Cirkus, Current Laga. The song features them dancing to upbeat music, with lyrics inspired by one of Ranveer Singh’s dual characters in the film, who is capable of producing electric current.
Lijo George and DJ Chetas composed Current Laga, which was sung by Nakash Aziz, Dhvani Bhanushali, Jonita Gandhi, and Lijo George. Hari added Tamil lyrics to the song written by Kumaar. Vivek Hariharan performed the Tamil rap portion.
Deepika was last seen in 83 with Ranveer. She also co-produced the film, in which Ranveer played cricketer Kapil Dev and she played his wife Romi Bhatia. However, the two were last seen dancing together in the 2015 film Bajirao Mastani.
Deepika’s intense emotional drama Gehraiyaan, in which she co-starred with Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa, followed in 83. She also appeared as a guest star in Brahmastra. She will now play the lead in Pathaan, alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The movie will be released on January 25, 2023. She is also collaborating with Hrithik Roshan on Fighter and Prabhas on a film. She will be flying to Qatar soon to unveil the FIFA World Cup trophy ahead of the tournament.
Cirkus is directed by Rohit Shetty and also stars Johnny Lever, Varun Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar, Mukesh Tiwari, and Siddharth Jadhav. The comedy film is set in the 1960s and stars Ranveer Singh in a dual role for the duration of the film. Varun, too, plays two roles. It will be released on December 23rd, during the Christmas weekend.
