Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, visited the family members of a tribesman discovered dead near Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Saturday.

Gandhi, who represents the Wayanad constituency in the Lok Sabha, met with the tribal man’s family and promised all possible assistance.

Vishwanathan, 46, was discovered hanging near the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode, where his wife was admitted for delivery, on Saturday (February 11).

However, according to Vishwanathan’s family, he did not commit suicide and was instead slain by a mob who allegedly attacked him after accusing him of theft. The family said that the mob murdered him and hung his body to make it appear as if he had committed suicide.

Vishwanathan was allegedly beaten up by hospital employees and security on Thursday (February 9), accusing him of stealing from passersby.

On the allegation of family members who claimed he was lynched, a case was also filed in this regard.

Gandhi consoled Vishwanathan’s family and stated that he will intercede to address the family’s concerns and ensure a thorough probe into the situation. “A full investigation should be carried out. “Justice should be served to Viswanathan’s family,” Gandhi remarked.

Gandhi later went to the home of a farmer who was slain by a tiger last month.

After finishing the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi made his first visit to his constituency. Later that evening, Gandhi is slated to address a rally of party workers in Wayanad.

On Sunday night, the Congress leader landed at Kozhikode International Airport, where he was greeted by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president K Sudhakaran, Kerala opposition leader V D Satheesan, and other party officials and workers.
