Ar. Prathama Desai: A Visionary in the Field of Architecture and Textile Art

Ar. Prathama Desai, founder of Filigree FabriCulture is an Architect turned Textile Designer based in Surat, Gujarat. With a vision of interior space design blended well with the knowledge of textile art and craft skills, she started her firm- ‘Filigree’ in 2017. Filigree features a wide variety of customised curtains as well as other textile decor items- adding a hint of fabric art within the interior spaces.

At her firm, they have successfully explored numerous local textile art and crafts consisting of minute intricate details over fabrics. She has applied these techniques in the form of curtain designs, screen & panelling designs, artworks and many more to enhance the aesthetics of the space. They give a specific unique identity to the overall project, amalgamating well with the design concepts at many significant sites.

Their journey at Filigree is limitless and inspiring, reaching a certain finesse in the field of home textiles. Filigree customises curtains and textile art products. Consisting of interior designs and architects, the team conceptualises designs in accordance to the theme and ambiance of the interior or residence. The textile craftsmen use unique techniques and skills for hand and machine embroidery, block printing, hand painting, mirror work, screen printing, patch work, applique craft and a lot more. Customization is their key feature as they work based on orders only, where they take around 3 months to develop the same for personalisation, as it go across three different teams- Design, Craftsmen and Tailoring team.

Till now, Filigree has successfully completed over 60+ projects and have not only worked at a local level but have also served nationally all over India to Ahmedabad, Delhi, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Latur, Goa, etc as well as internationally in Pennsylvania and Dallas, USA.
