Bains was not only close to late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala but also played a key role in shaping his career
Punjabi music composer and lyricist Bunty Bains, who also shared close relations with late singer Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot at in Punjab’s Mohali on Tuesday.
Bains — who played a key role in shaping Sidhu Moose Wala’s career — was at a restaurant in Mohali Sector 79 when the assassination attempt took place, an India Today report said.
Managing to escape from the attempt unharmed, Bains filed a police complaint against unknown persons.
Following the incident, it has been learnt that a ransom of Rs 1 crore has been demanded from Bunty Bains. Bains has been warned that if he does not comply with the ransom demand, it would result in his death.
The threat was reportedly made in notorious gangster Lucky Patial’s name. Patial, known for his relations with Lawrence Bishnoi and Bambiha gangs, is said to be operating from Canada.
Investigations into the shooting are underway, police said.
Apart from sharing a close relation with late Sidhu Moose Wala, Bains’ company also used to manage his affairs. Sidhu Moose Wala, was also killed in a shooting incident in May 2022 in Jawaharke village of Mansa district.
Last year popular singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh claimed to have received a threat call from Goldy Brar, the main accused in Sidhu Moose Wala murder case.
The singer reportedly approached Delhi Police for protection. He reportedly visited the Delhi Police headquarters where he met the Commissioner to file a complaint.
