Dr. Nairwita Bandyopadhyay is a distinguished academic and geographer, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Geography. Her academic journey began in 2017 at Haringhata College, where she took on the responsibility of heading the Geography Department, an institution affiliated with the University of Kalyani.

Dr. Bandyopadhyay’s expertise and contributions to the field of geography have earned her prestigious recognitions, including the Young Women Geographer Award (1st Prize) and the N.P. Aiyyar Young Geographer Award, both bestowed by the National Association of Geographers in India (NAGI).

Her scholarly impact extends beyond teaching, as she has edited three international publications and authored numerous research articles and book chapters, published on both national and international platforms. Dr. Bandyopadhyay’s educational background is equally impressive, having completed her Ph.D., M.Phil., and M.A. in Geography from the Department of Geography at the Delhi School of Economics, further establishing her authority in the field.

Her research interests focus on climatology, a field she is deeply passionate about. This passion is reflected not only in her academic work but also in her public engagement. Dr. Nairwita Bandyopadhyay runs a weather forecasting page on Facebook called “Meghdoot,” where she shares her insights on weather and climate, making complex scientific knowledge accessible to a broader audience. Through her work in both academia and public education, Dr. Bandyopadhyay demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing the understanding of geography and the environment.
