Prof. B. Suresh Lal is a distinguished academician and a transformative figure in the field of economics. He currently serves as the Professor, Head, and Chairman of the Department of Economics, and the Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education at Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana, India. With an illustrious career spanning 29 years, Prof. Lal has made remarkable contributions to development economics, health economics, and the economics of tribal studies.
As a dedicated educator, he teaches postgraduate students and mentors a thriving group of doctoral scholars. His commitment to academic excellence is evident in his extensive body of work, which includes the authorship of 25 books and the publication of 135 research articles in peer-reviewed international and Scopus-indexed journals. His research expertise has also led to the successful completion of six major research projects and the guidance of 17 PhD scholars.

Prof. Lal’s contributions have received international acclaim. He has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society (UK), the International Academy of Social Sciences (USA), and the International Society for Development and Sustainability (Japan). His global influence is further emphasized by his role as an editorial board member for 45 international journals and as a jury member for the Global Undergraduate Awards in Ireland.
Currently, he also serves on the Executive Council (EC) of Kakatiya University and is an executive member of the Indian Economic Association. His international engagements have taken him to 22 countries, where he has actively participated in academic collaborations and research initiatives.
