Chetan Sharma, the BCCI’s chief selector, has resigned from his position. He resigned in writing to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who accepted it

Chetan Sharma, the head selector for the BCCI, has decided to leave his position on Friday. Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, accepted Sharma’s resignation. “Yes, Chetan’s resignation has been accepted by BCCI secretary Jay Shah after being tendered. After the sting operation, his position had become impossible to maintain. He resigned on his own accord and without being asked to do so “On Friday, a senior BCCI source spoke to PTI under the condition of anonymity.

Chetan Sharma was in Kolkata with other members of the Ranji Trophy selection committee for the final between Bengal and Saurashtra. They had come to pick the Irani Cup team.

After India’s disappointing performance at the T20 World Cup in Australia, Sharma was retained as chief selector, but he ran into trouble after ZEE Media caught him on camera disclosing insider information during a sting operation.

The chief selector’s venomous remarks sparked outrage in Indian cricket. Sharma claimed in a series of revelations that several Indian players take injections to expedite their return to international cricket.

Sharma revealed that there was an “ego clash” between former Indian captain Virat Kohli and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. When Ganguly was in charge, batting legend Kohli stepped down as India’s captain. When Kohli stepped down as India’s captain, Ganguly claimed the BCCI had asked him to reconsider his decision.

Kohli, on the other hand, contradicted Ganguly by revealing that the decision was deemed a “progressive step” at the time by the apex Indian cricket board. In 2022, veteran opener Rohit was named India’s captain across all formats.

Along with revealing details of private conversations between captain Rohit and head coach Rahul Dravid, chief selector Sharma asserted that he had disagreements with management over Bumrah’s return. The Indian pacer has had a difficult time rejoining the national team since suffering a back injury. Bumrah, a pacer, is anticipated to miss the rest of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the World Cup year, the star pacer is also questionable for the ODI series against Australia.
